Artful Geometry 

Sumrina is a Manchester-based artist specialising in technical drawings and designs, primarily working with geometry and botanical illustration techniques, and exploring the geometry of the sacred. 

 

She initially composes complex technical patterns with a ruler and compass. With the addition of unique colour blends, these exceptional drawings come alive to reveal exquisite compositions.

 

Sumrina enjoys the freedom of exploiting mixed media when composing her pieces, where possible using natural pigments and making her own paints from unusual semi-precious stones, earths, and plants, adding to the singularity of her creations.  

 

Her process of creating geometric paintings involves a lot of lines that can be chaotic and confusing at first, gradually taking shape until meticulous precision is achieved. In this progression, Sumrina explores the chaos from within, emerging with mesmerising yet orderly designs.

The artist embodies a spirit of meditation and mindfulness as part of her creative process, which has helped to sooth a sharp and vivid yet, at times, confusing and painful mind.
